Ricoh recognised for energy-efficient products
London, August 2010 – Ricoh Europe, a specialist in office solutions, managed document services, and production printing, has been recognised by Buyers Lab (BLI) for the energy-efficiency of its products.
BLI’s “Outstanding Achievement” honours are awarded to the most energy-efficient printer models tested in the past six months. After analysing the results for the top performers in a range of printer and MFP categories, BLI awarded its Summer 2010 “Outstanding Achievement” award to Ricoh’s A3 MFP, Aficio MP C5000, as tested with its Ricoh controller. During BLI’s environmental testing, the Ricoh Aficio MP C5000’s energy consumption was lower than average in every running mode tested, as well as during its idle and sleep modes. This helped it achieve a significantly lower than average projected annual energy consumption and cost. This ENERGY STAR-qualified and EU RoHS-compliant unit also uses less energy to warm up from sleep mode than the competitive average.
“Obtaining BLI’s Outstanding Achievement award for our Aficio MP C5000 for its low energy consumption is a valuable recognition of our commitment to the environment,” said Harald List, Manager, MFP Department at Ricoh Europe (Netherlands) B.V. “It also sends a clear sign to our customers that today’s business needs and concern for the environment are natural allies for Ricoh. ‘Ecology meets economy’ is a driving force in our approach to the market.”
In addition, BLI also presented its “Pick” Award to Ricoh’s Aficio GX e5550N in the single-function inkjet printer category. The Aficio GX e5550N was chosen as the BLI “Pick” for its impressive ease of use, consistent colour output and overall economy.
“While much of the industry is focused on high-speed and higher priced laser and LED models, inkjet models are enjoying a renaissance in the office environment,” said BLI Senior Test Technician Tony Maceri. “The Ricoh Aficio GX e5550N provides good colour output and faster tested speeds than many of its competitors for a low cost per page, making it a great option for low-volume users as an affordable alternative to a colour laser printer. Even better is the fact that the ink dries fast and stays put. In our evaluation, output from the GX e5550N showed little to no ink transfer in our highlighter and water drip tests, which means if you use a highlighter marker or spill some of your drink on a printed page, all is not lost.”
“By offering colour at virtually the same price as BW-prints with its unique ECOnomy Color mode, without making any compromise to black text quality, the GX e5500N is set apart from other inkjet products. The cost efficiency is further boosted by high yield cartridges,” said Bert de Greeff, Manager Printer Marketing at Ricoh Europe (Netherlands) B.V. “Minimal energy consumption reduces the GX e5550N’s impact on the environment and sets it apart from any competitive Colour Laser printer. Duplex printing is standard, reducing paper consumption, and some components are made from plant-based plastic, further enhancing the printer’s environmental credentials.”
