Ricoh Electronic Devices Company accelerates automotive expansion in Europe with the opening of a new Düsseldorf office

Amstelveen, the Netherlands, 13 October 2015 – Ricoh Europe (Netherlands) B.V. today announced that Ricoh Electronic Devices Company, Ltd. (REDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Ricoh Company, Ltd. in Japan, will open a new Semiconductor Sales and Support office in Düsseldorf, Germany, in October to expand its automotive and industrial business.

It is the intention of REDC to focus on the growth of its automotive and industrial business, following Ricoh Group’s 18th Mid Term Plan. In the competitive automotive market, the setup of this office was strategically chosen as it is located in the heart of the automotive electronics development industry, where many of the Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive customers reside. The expansion also provides new opportunities to establish business relationships with potential industrial customers. The opening of the new office is yet another step in REDC’s integrated European growth strategy.

The new office in Düsseldorf will provide product promotion and technical support to the sales and engineering departments of automotive and industrial customers. As REDC remains committed to maintaining and supporting its fundamental distributor channels, the main focus  is to develop, manufacture and sell semiconductor products to electronics manufacturers worldwide.

Customers in Germany will have increased access to REDC’s broad product portfolio that includes general, industrial and automotive products; devices purely for consumer use, for industrial use with an extended high temperature range and for automotive use with AEC-Q100 qualification. The industrial and automotive class products have passed a screening in an extended operating temperature environment with very strict reliability test procedures.

RICOH’s Power Management ICs (such as LDO’s and DC/DC Converters) and Real Time Clock ICs are selected to be implemented in a variety of products:

  • Consumer Devices Smartphones, Tablets, Cameras, Internet Gateways, Household Equipment, Set Top Box, Digital TV
  • Industrial Devices Smart Metering, M2M, Security Systems, IoT, Industrial Computer
  • Automotive Devices Keyless Entry, Navigation, ECU’s, Infotainment, Rear Camera, Kick Sensor, Tire Pressure Measurement

Automotive clients can count on the continuing quality level ranking according to the product’s application purpose. In addition, new customers are offered a Product Longevity Program (PLP) for applications with a lifecycle of 10 years or more.

In addition to the new office in Düsseldorf, REDC has branch offices in Europe, the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and China
